Anderlecht membidik kemenangan krusial demi mengamankan tiket kompetisi Eropa musim depan saat menjamu Sint-Truiden dalam laga kandang terakhir Champions' Play-offs di Lotto Park pada Kamis malam.
Kemenangan dalam pertandingan ini akan memastikan skuad asuhan Jérémy Taravel finis di peringkat keempat klasemen. Laga ini sekaligus menjadi momentum kebangkitan bagi tim berjuluk Mauves tersebut setelah menelan kekalahan dalam laga final piala domestik seminggu sebelumnya.
Pelatih Anderlecht, Jérémy Taravel menegaskan bahwa seluruh elemen tim telah melupakan hasil buruk tersebut dan siap mengalihkan fokus penuh untuk menghadapi pertandingan penting yang menentukan masa depan klub.
"The players are fully aware of the importance of this match for the club and its supporters." kata Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Kekalahan di laga final diakui memberikan dampak psikologis yang berat bagi tim dan para pendukung. Meski demikian, Taravel menyatakan bahwa komunikasi intensif telah dilakukan untuk mengembalikan mental bertanding anak asuhnya.
"We had to process the disappointment of that final and get everyone focused again," ujar Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Sang pelatih menambahkan bahwa sebagai profesional, timnya harus segera bangkit karena tantangan besar demi musim depan sudah menanti di depan mata.
"It was obviously a huge disappointment for the team and the supporters. Personally, I felt the same way, but as a professional you have to switch focus quickly. We knew that important matches still remained after the cup final with next season in mind. We discussed it both collectively and individually, and we are ready to fully embrace this match." tutur Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Menghadapi Sint-Truiden, dukungan penuh dari para suporter di stadion dinilai akan menjadi faktor pembeda yang sangat besar bagi performa tim di lapangan.
"Without the support of our supporters, it is difficult, especially at home. Their support makes a huge difference." sebut Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Juru taktik asal Prancis itu juga mengaku sangat memahami kekecewaan para pendukung yang telah lama menantikan raihan trofi juara bagi klub tersebut.
"I completely understand them because they have been waiting for a trophy for several years. Both the squad and I were deeply disappointed after losing the cup final. I hope the supporters will back us against STVV because it is an important match for the club." harap Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Sint-Truiden diprediksi tampil tanpa beban sekaligus percaya diri tinggi setelah mereka berhasil mengamankan tiket Eropa lebih dulu pada pertemuan sebelumnya.
"They will obviously play with freedom after securing a European ticket. They will come to the Lotto Park full of confidence." ungkap Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Berkaca pada performa di laga-laga terakhir, Anderlecht kerap tampil mendominasi namun gagal memanfaatkan peluang serta melakukan kesalahan fatal di lini pertahanan.
"They are a team with a lot of movement and quality. We will have to be ready and impose our game. We will simply need to play a complete match to win. In recent games we were often performing well, but we failed to score and made a few mistakes. In the Champions’ Play-offs, you pay dearly for that." jelas Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Pertandingan ini juga berpotensi menjadi laga perpisahan bagi beberapa pemain yang masa kontraknya akan habis di Lotto Park pada akhir musim.
"They want to end their time here on a positive note after the lost cup final and finish the season in style by securing a European ticket for next season. I can feel the hunger to give everything for this club until the very last minute." pungkas Jérémy Taravel, Pelatih Anderlecht.
Anderlecht dipastikan tampil pincang setelah bek Moussa Diarra absen akibat cedera otot gluteal, menyusul Mario Stroeykens yang masih cedera serta Mihajlo Cvetković yang menjalani sanksi larangan bertanding kedua.
