Arsenal Women akan bertandang ke Stadion Broadfield untuk menghadapi Brighton & Hove Albion Women dalam lanjutan Liga Super Wanita (WSL) pada Rabu, 6 Mei 2026, pukul 19.45 waktu setempat. Pertandingan ini menjadi krusial bagi tim tamu untuk mengamankan posisi tiga besar guna memastikan tiket kualifikasi Liga Champions musim depan.
Skuad asuhan Renee Slegers saat ini berada di peringkat ketiga klasemen dan terpaut 11 poin dari pemuncak klasemen, Manchester City. Arsenal membutuhkan kemenangan di tiga laga tersisa untuk menjaga peluang tipis perebutan gelar juara tetap hidup hingga hari terakhir kompetisi pada 16 Mei mendatang.
Brighton asuhan Dario Vidosic berada dalam performa impresif setelah tidak terkalahkan dalam lima pertandingan kompetitif terakhir. Klub berjuluk The Seagulls tersebut sebelumnya berhasil mengejutkan Arsenal dengan kemenangan 2-0 di perempat final Piala FA bulan lalu berkat gol Madison Haley dan Caitlin Hayes.
Manajer Arsenal, Renee Slegers, memberikan tanggapannya mengenai kekuatan lawan yang akan mereka hadapi setelah timnya baru saja tersingkir dari semifinal Liga Champions oleh Lyon akhir pekan lalu.
"I think Brighton are a very good team. I think they’re very brave and convinced in the way they play, both in and out of possession. But I think what they also have is they have a versatility and they can do things in different ways, adjusting to opposition and circumstances, which I’m really impressed with. So they’ve been doing really, really well and they’re a hard team to play against." ujar Renee Slegers, Manajer Arsenal.
Slegers juga menyoroti kelemahan timnya dalam mengantisipasi situasi bola mati yang menjadi keunggulan Brighton melalui pemain-pemain tinggi seperti Manuela Vanegas dan Caitlin Hayes.
"We have to look at what we have, what structure we create, what qualities that we possess, to be able to defend it and look at the opposition qualities to be aware of. For both goals we concede is from a throw-in and from a corner at Boreham Wood (in the recent FA Cup defeat) and we’ve seen what they’ve been doing. They have some really, really tall players and threats and strong headers of the ball. So it’s going to be a key area in the game tomorrow." kata Renee Slegers, Manajer Arsenal.
Pelatih asal Belanda tersebut menegaskan bahwa timnya terus berupaya meningkatkan kemampuan teknis pemain dalam duel udara untuk mengatasi tantangan fisik dari lawan.
"We work with the players that we have here now. I also think we pride ourselves on playing on the ground. We like to have the ball at our feet, but I also think we’ve developed the other sides of the game, where the ball can be in the air at times and it can go more direct, but we are constantly working on it. And the coaches on the training pitch are. That’s often at the end of sessions that there’s some technical heading and we do set pieces on the pitch. So we’re looking at ways to constantly develop plays in all areas, heading is one of them. But then also, of course, looking at the balance in the squad for the future." jelas Renee Slegers, Manajer Arsenal.
Kabar baik bagi The Gunners datang dengan kembalinya penyerang Beth Mead ke dalam skuad setelah absen dalam tiga laga terakhir karena alasan pribadi. Namun, Arsenal masih kehilangan Manuela Zinsberger, Katie Reid, Kyra Cooney-Cross, dan Steph Catley yang masih berkutat dengan cedera atau cuti.
Di sisi lain, Brighton kemungkinan akan melakukan rotasi pemain demi menjaga kebugaran skuad menjelang laga semifinal Piala FA melawan Liverpool pada hari Minggu mendatang.
