Arsenal berhasil memastikan tiket ke final Liga Champions setelah menumbangkan Atletico Madrid dengan skor 1-0 di Stadion Emirates pada Selasa, 5 Mei 2026. Hasil ini membawa klub asal London tersebut menuju partai puncak kompetisi tertinggi Eropa untuk kedua kalinya dalam sejarah mereka.
Kemenangan tipis tersebut menjaga catatan impresif tim asuhan Mikel Arteta yang belum terkalahkan dalam 14 pertandingan Liga Champions musim ini. Keberhasilan ini sekaligus memutus penantian panjang selama 20 tahun bagi para pendukung The Gunners untuk kembali melihat timnya di final.
Manajer Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, mengungkapkan bahwa keberhasilan menyingkirkan wakil Spanyol tersebut merupakan salah satu momen terbaik sepanjang karier profesionalnya. Ia memberikan apresiasi khusus kepada atmosfer yang diciptakan oleh para suporter sejak sebelum pertandingan dimulai.
"It’s one of the best nights that I've had in my career," ujar Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Pelatih asal Spanyol tersebut menilai dukungan luar biasa dari tribun telah meningkatkan standar permainan, gairah, serta energi para pemain di lapangan. Arteta mengaku sangat bangga melihat kebahagiaan yang terpancar dari wajah pemain, staf, dan seluruh pendukung di stadion.
"I think today the supporters raised the standard and told us the way we had to play this game," kata Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Arteta juga menyoroti bagaimana sambutan suporter di luar stadion menjadi faktor pembeda yang meningkatkan keyakinan timnya dalam menghadapi laga krusial ini.
"The way they received the team outside the stadium was unique - I've never seen it before. And the energy that was created today in this stadium was something else; something different, something that elevates everybody's conviction, energy, passion, and I'm so proud," ucap Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Setelah bertahun-tahun menanti, pencapaian ini dianggap Arteta sebagai momen yang membuat segala kerja keras tim menjadi masuk akal.
"It's been so many years, it's only the second time in our history that we've achieved the final. There are days that I don't know what I'm doing with this job because it's just mad!" tutur Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Kondisi di ruang ganti saat ini sangat kontras dibandingkan musim lalu ketika mereka disingkirkan oleh Paris Saint-Germain pada babak yang sama.
"But when I was looking at the stands today, my players and the staff and see their joy and happiness and that light in them, everything we do makes sense," ungkap Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Arteta memuji kedewasaan timnya dalam mengelola jalannya laga, terutama pada menit-menit akhir saat harus meredam pengalaman Atletico Madrid di kompetisi Eropa.
"The team was immense, we played a really, really tough opponent, and they have so much experience playing in this kind of competition and these kinds of games," jelas Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Momen terciptanya gol tunggal oleh Bukayo Saka dinilai terjadi pada waktu yang sangat tepat untuk mengamankan keunggulan agregat.
"The timing of the goal was perfect I would say. We had that moment as well where it could have gone their way as well, and in the last few minutes I think we had to manage the game - and we did that really well," papar Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Perayaan di Emirates Stadium juga dihadiri oleh jajaran petinggi klub, termasuk Josh Kroenke, yang menunjukkan betapa pentingnya sejarah baru ini bagi organisasi.
"We haven't played many games of that stature, and against this kind of opponent. Again, you could sense the energy that something magical was happening tonight, and then when the whistle went off and you saw that reaction, it was wonderful," kata Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Seluruh elemen klub, mulai dari staf hingga manajemen, disebut terlibat dalam perjalanan panjang menuju final musim 2025/2026 ini.
"It carried on for a while, and everybody was involved. Josh [Kroenke], all the board, all the staff, and that shows you how much it means to everybody and how important everybody is in this journey, so I'm very grateful," ujar Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Fokus tim kini segera beralih ke kompetisi domestik untuk menjaga peluang dalam perburuan gelar juara Liga Inggris.
"Let's enjoy tonight, and tomorrow we have to start to recover really well, get the batteries to the maximum again, and start to prepare for West Ham because that's a massive game," tutup Mikel Arteta, Manajer Arsenal.
Arsenal dijadwalkan melakoni laga tandang melawan West Ham United pada hari Minggu mendatang sebelum mempersiapkan diri untuk laga final.
