Klub sepak bola asal Wales, Flint Mountain FC, resmi berganti nama menjadi FC Mountain dan dipastikan turun kasta secara sukarela ke Tier 4 untuk musim 2026/2027 setelah permohonan mereka dikabulkan oleh Asosiasi Sepak Bola Wales (FAW).
Keputusan degradasi pilihan sendiri ini diumumkan pada Juni 2026, yang membuat klub melompati Ardal Leagues di Tier 3 setelah sebelumnya finis di peringkat ke-14 dari 16 klub pada kompetisi Cymru North musim 2025/2026. Menyusul keputusan tersebut, manajemen klub langsung mengumumkan penunjukan pria asal Italia, Max Leghissa, sebagai direktur olahraga teknis baru untuk membangun kembali tim.
Asosiasi Sepak Bola Wales menjelaskan bahwa regulasi internal mengizinkan direksi untuk menentukan permohonan tersebut berdasarkan diskresi penuh, termasuk menempatkan klub di divisi yang lebih rendah.
“iii. The application will be determined by the Directors in their absolute discretion. Without limiting such discretion, the Directors shall have the power to: a. grant consent as applied for; or b. grant consent in principle but order the Qualifying Club play at a different Tier in Pyramid Tiers 1 -3 to that applied for; or c. refuse consent for the Qualifying Club to play in Pyramid Tiers 1 – 3 but order the Qualifying Club play in a league at a Tier in the Pyramid League System below Tier 3; or d. in any of the above cases where consent is granted or an order made, impose such conditions as the Directors think necessary including, without limitation, a condition requiring the applicant club to discharge (in whole or in part in the Directors’ absolute discretion) the Football Related Liabilities of the club before the commencement of the next Playing Season; or e. refuse the application. Dampak dari mundurnya klub yang berdiri sejak 2009 ini membawa berkah bagi Ruthin Town FC, Kerry FC, dan Connah's Quay Town yang batal terdegradasi dari divisi masing-masing. Di sisi lain, manajemen FC Mountain menyatakan belum menentukan liga Tier 4 spesifik yang akan mereka ikuti karena masih menyesuaikan dengan lokasi stadion kandang baru mereka.

Leghissa sendiri bukan nama asing di koridor sepak bola Wales Utara karena sebelumnya sempat menjabat sebagai direktur sepak bola di Bangor City pada tahun 2019, serta memiliki rekam jejak kerja di akademi AC Milan dan klub Serie A Udinese.
“Max joins us to help rebuild the club, and has previously had spells with Udinese Calcio in Serie A, as sporting director at Maltese Premier League club Mosta and most recently in Bangor as Technical Director.” tambah pihak klub mengenai rekam jejak direktur baru mereka.
Pria berusia 61 tahun tersebut nantinya akan berkolaborasi dengan jajaran pelatih dan manajemen puncak untuk mengasah potensi para pemain lokal dalam sistem kompetisi Wales.

Terkait kepastian liga domestik tempat mereka bernaung selanjutnya, klub yang sempat menjuarai Ardal North West musim 2023/2024 ini memilih untuk membatasi komentar lebih lanjut.

It has not yet been confirmed which Tier 4 league we will be playing in for the 26/27 season.
