Kondisi kesehatan gelandang Denmark Christian Eriksen dilaporkan telah stabil setelah sang pemain mendadak jatuh tidak sadarkan diri di lapangan pada pertandingan persahabatan melawan Ukraina, Minggu, 7 Juni 2026 malam waktu setempat.
Insiden yang terjadi di Stadion Odense tersebut memaksa laga dihentikan pada menit ke-65 saat tim medis memberikan pertolongan darurat dan para pemain Denmark langsung membuat barisan pelindung di sekitar rekan setim mereka.
Dokter tim nasional Denmark Morten Boesen memberikan penjelasan resmi mengenai situasi medis pemain berusia 34 tahun tersebut yang kini telah dibawa ke rumah sakit untuk pemeriksaan lanjutan.
"Christian is doing well and left the field himself. As I see it, the pacemaker is working as it should. He was briefly unconscious, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were quickly in contact with him. Now he will be examined further at the hospital to find out what caused the incident," ujar Morten Boesen, dokter tim nasional Denmark.
Boesen menambahkan bahwa komunikasi dengan gelandang VfL Wolfsburg tersebut terus berjalan intensif pasca-evakuasi dari lapangan pertandingan.
"We are in ongoing contact with him and the doctors at the hospital. But Christian was fine, and he asked me to greet all the players and say that everything was okay," kata Morten Boesen, dokter tim nasional Denmark.
Peristiwa ini mengingatkan publik pada momen Piala Eropa 2020 ketika Eriksen mengalami henti jantung saat melawan Finlandia, yang kemudian membuatnya harus menggunakan alat pacu jantung.
Kapten tim nasional Denmark Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg menyampaikan rasa emosionalnya setelah pertandingan resmi dibatalkan akibat insiden medis tersebut.
"The most important thing is that Christian is okay – and that his family is okay. We went into the dressing room and spoke a bit there. Now you try to collect yourself and get the chance to talk things through with each other. Some people have questions, and others need to talk to their families. Some need to sit and listen a bit. That’s completely okay. It feels strange to say it brings back memories," kata Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, kapten tim nasional Denmark kepada stasiun penyiaran TV 2.
Hojbjerg juga mengapresiasi kesiapan tim medis serta sikap respek yang ditunjukkan oleh seluruh pemain dan suporter di stadion.
"The overriding thing is that the response was handled well, and that the medical staff had everything under control. And that the players showed respect, and that the fans showed great respect. It ended as well as it possibly could – given what happened. We are all deeply grateful for that, and that is the most important thing," tutur Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, kapten tim nasional Denmark.
Gelandang tersebut menyatakan bahwa kejadian ini memberikan guncangan besar bagi seluruh anggota tim dinamit.
"It was a shock. The most important thing is that Christian is doing well," sambung Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, kapten tim nasional Denmark.
Hojbjerg menegaskan bahwa fokus utamanya saat ini adalah segera berkumpul kembali bersama keluarganya.
"I think I need to see my children and my family. They are the ones I want to see," tambah Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, kapten tim nasional Denmark.
Sementara itu, pelatih kepala Denmark Brian Riemer menyatakan komitmennya untuk segera menjenguk anak asuhnya tersebut di rumah sakit.
"I’m looking forward to seeing him. I’m going over to see him now as soon as I have the chance. I need to see him and talk to him, I can feel that. He is a man who has meant a great deal to me," kata Brian Riemer, pelatih tim nasional Denmark.
Kedekatan Riemer dan Eriksen sendiri sudah terbangun sejak keduanya bekerja sama di klub Inggris Brentford, sebelum kembali berkolaborasi di level internasional.
"There are some players you become closer to than others, and he was one of those I became close to because of the experience he came with. And since then, we’ve also worked together with the national team, so he is someone I have a close relationship with and know very well. That is why it naturally sits very deeply with me," jelas Brian Riemer, pelatih tim nasional Denmark.
Pertandingan melawan Ukraina kemungkinan besar tidak akan dilanjutkan kembali mengingat laga ini hanya bersifat uji coba, dan timnas Denmark tercatat tidak memiliki agenda pertandingan sisa pada jeda internasional Juni setelah sebelumnya bermain imbang tanpa gol melawan Republik Demokratik Kongo pada 3 Juni.
