UEFA merilis data statistik resmi expected goals (xG) Liga Konferensi musim 2025/2026 pada Kamis, 21 Mei 2026, yang menempatkan Shakhtar Donetsk sebagai tim dengan penyelesaian akhir paling efisien. Laporan federasi sepak bola Eropa tersebut menunjukkan skuad asuhan Arda Turan mengemas 21 gol dari nilai harapan gol sebesar 16,02, sehingga menghasilkan surplus 4,98 gol.
Sebaliknya, performa buruk dicatatkan oleh Crystal Palace selaku finalis kompetisi yang berada di papan bawah efisiensi peluang karena hanya mencetak 25 gol dari nilai xG sebesar 31,14. Hasil tersebut membuat klub asal Inggris itu minus 6,14 gol lebih sedikit dari perkiraan metrik UEFA yang dilansir dari Swissquote.

Ketajaman lini serang Shakhtar Donetsk diiringi dengan langkah manajemen mengamankan tanda tangan penyerang Lassina Traore melalui kontrak baru berdurasi lima tahun pada Selasa, 19 Mei 2026. Pemain internasional Burkina Faso berusia 25 tahun tersebut berkomitmen menetap di Ukraina demi kelanjutan karier sepak bolanya setelah mengemas 7 gol dan 6 asis dari 19 laga musim ini.

Sebelum kesepakatan kontrak baru diumumkan, Traore menyumbang gol pembuka saat Shakhtar Donetsk menang 3-2 atas Kryvbas KR dalam laga yang sempat terhenti akibat peringatan serangan udara setelah tim menempuh perjalanan darat 16 jam. Mendapat pertanyaan tersebut, pelatih kepala Arda Turan menyanggah anggapan bahwa periode ini merupakan waktu tersulit bagi timnya. Turan membandingkan situasi saat ini dengan fase padat kompetisi domestik dan Eropa sebelumnya ketika mereka harus melakoni tiga pertandingan liga dalam sepekan.
“No, I wouldn’t say it is the most difficult period. First of all, we are here for the children and for all the fans present, so we knew why we were travelling here. I would compare it with other, in my view, more demanding periods – for example, when we had three UPL matches in a week, including the rescheduled game with Zorya, as well as period when we had to compete on two fronts, in the Ukrainian league and in European competitions. It is also always difficult to return after international breaks and get back into rhythm. So yes, it is physically demanding, but as I said, we played for the children and for everyone here in the stands. Despite the external circumstances, which of course were not very pleasant, we understood the purpose of what we were doing.” kata Arda Turan, Pelatih Kepala Shakhtar Donetsk.
Turan juga memberikan pujian mendalam terhadap kualitas personal serta kontribusi besar sang penyerang dalam membawa timnya mengunci gelar juara liga domestik musim ini, di samping adanya candaan internal di antara mereka.

Tantangan fisik yang berat akibat laga melawan Obolon selama 4 jam dan Kryvbas selama hampir 5 jam membuat Shakhtar Donetsk harus melakukan dua pergantian pemain akibat cedera di babak pertama. Sang pelatih menyebut jadwal padat dan perjalanan darat sebagai pemicu utama.
"I think all the science in the world cannot provide a fully complete answer to that question. Given our schedule and the fact that we travelled here for 16 hours, there is no need to look for any special explanations.
